Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need a chiropractor?
If you have acute or chronic pain that seems to be coming from muscles or joints, chiropractic care may be the best choice for treatment. Chiropractic care has proven to be faster and more effective for naturally reducing pain and restoring function than all other alternative treatment choices.
What conditions do chiropractors treat?
Since the nervous system controls every cell in the human body, and, with few exceptions, the entire nervous system passes through the spine, chiropractic treatments can have profound positive affects on health and wellbeing. That being said, most new patients seek chiropractic care regarding conditions originating from muscles, joints and nerves. Some of the more common conditions treated are:

  • Low back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Headaches
  • Neck pain
  • Shoulder pain or dysfunction
  • Hip/knee/ankle pain or dysfunction
  • Mid-back pain
  • Sports injuries
  • Auto accidents
  • Whiplash injuries
  • Repetitive stress injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome
  • TMJ (jaw) pain or dysfunction
How long will it take to fix my problem?
Each patient is unique, as is each condition. Throughout Dr. Vialnd’s years of experience in practice he has developed treatment methods that produce superior results in a minimal amount of time. Most patients begin to feel better immediately after their first treatment.
Will my insurance cover this?
Yes.  Most health insurance policies cover the cost of chiropractic treatment.  Patients without insurance coverage are eligible for a ‘prompt pay discount’.  We accept all major credit cards, Flex Spending and HSA cards, as well as cash and checks for any applicable out of pocket expense.
What takes place during my first appointment?
On your first visit, you will be thoroughly examined to determine the cause of your problem and a treatment plan will be formulated. Your treatment will then begin immediately. Imaging, such as x-ray or MRI is sometimes needed before treatment can begin.
Are the treatments painful?
Chiropractic adjustments should never be painful.
Can I be treated if I am pregnant?
Yes. In fact, chiropractic adjustments can be a great help in controlling low back pain and other symptoms as posture changes during the course of pregnancy.
What should I wear when I come for my appointment?
Come as you are, whether you’re wearing a business suit or athletic wear. Freshly laundered shorts and gowns are provided when needed.
If I start having treatments, do I need to keep coming?
A common misconception about chiropractic is that adjusting the bones of the spine will stretch the ligaments and make the joints looser and more in need of realignment in the future. In fact, the opposite is true. When a bone is out of place for some time, the ligaments are already stretched. When the vertebrae is realigned, there will be some temporary laxity in the joint. As a brief treatment plan is followed and the bone spends more time in its proper place, the ligaments will tighten and stabilize the bone in its proper position.
